LIGHTS LACQUER WINTER NAIL POLISH COLLECTION REVIEW
The holidays are here and so is Lights Lacquer’s winter nail polish collection! I am in love with the color story of this nail collection, it has such a great range of colors to give the perfect holiday and winter vibes.
Lights Lacquer Winter Nail Polish Collection
Baby It’s Gold Outside
This shade is the perfect holiday gold! It has a metallic finish to make it look just like liquid gold. It’s quite shiny and catches the light without it being shimmery or glittery. While this shade can certainly be worn on its own, I think it is a great shade for nail designs. I want to try using this on the tips of my nails with Red Ribbons as the base.
BAH Humbug!
I was really excited when I saw this shade in the winter nail collection! It rounds out the collection by adding a shade that brings subtle winter vibes while still being versatile to wear year-round. I enjoy muted, mauvey shades like this. I find them to be wearable for any occasion and they make a great base for nail topper shades or designs. This shade is a creme finish so it’s creamy and opaque with just one coat.
Frost & Starlight
I’m obsessed with this shade! It is winter in a bottle and I already know this will be my most worn shade from the collection. Lights Lacquer describes it as an icy blue with a fine diamond shimmer in a crelly finish. Their crelly finishes have a creamy base with a jelly-like finish. They also tend not to be as opaque as their creme finishes. I had no trouble building this up with just two shades so you don’t need to worry about it potentially being sheer on the nails. The shimmer is super fine and helps it give a beautiful light-reflecting appearance on the nails.
Red Ribbons
I was a bit unsure if I was going to like this shade as a holiday red when I saw it in the bottle. Don’t get me wrong, it still looks beautiful and I love red shades. However, there’s a very specific red that comes to mind when you think of the holidays. It’s described as a cranberry red but when looking at it in the bottle, it appears to have a bit more pink to it, like a slightly strawberry red. But once I put this shade on my nails, it came to life and gave me that traditional holiday red. It’s a creme finish so it’s richly pigmented to give a creamy opaque finish in just one coat but I usually always do two coats to ensure longevity. If you’re a fan of red nail polish, you will love how rich and vibrant this shade is!
Silky PJ’s
If you want the perfect Christmas green nail polish shade, this is it! Lights Lacquer describes it as an imperial jade green with a velvet finish, which is supposed to be a semi-metallic shimmer to give it a soft molten appearance. I would agree that it has a metallic-looking finish, giving it a beautiful light-reflecting glow without being shimmery. This shade is fun and vibrant and is sure to make you think of Christmas!
The Night Before
The Night Before has a shimmer finish which Lights Lacquer defines as being more sheer. They describe the shade as a dark midnight blue with a fine shimmer finish. I was really excited about this shade because it looks like a beautiful starry night in a bottle! However, I was a little disappointed in how sheer it was. You can see on the swatch how it’s a little see-through and that’s after three layers. I think this could be used as a topper on a cream or light blue base and you would be able to get the full color you see in the bottle. It does still look beautiful in a sheer finish, it’s just different than what you see in the bottle because the sheer finish brings out a lighter blue.
Final Thoughts
I’ve really been enjoying this winter nail polish collection! It tells the perfect winter/holiday color story with a nice variety of nail shades. Compared to their fall nail collection, I actually like this one more! I appreciate that there are colors that will be perfect to get you into the Christmas spirit but you can also use a lot of them throughout the winter or even year-round.
