Top 5 Best Cleansers for Sensitive Skin

CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
CeraVe is one of the top dermatologist recommended skincare brands because of their no-nonsense, science-backed, effective, and affordable products. Their products focus on protecting the skin barrier and are great for sensitive skin. While all of their cleansers are suitable for sensitive skin, their hydrating cleanser is the gentlest and best pick when dealing with sensitized skin. It has a creamy consistency, almost like a lotion on the skin. It doesn’t lather or foam up but it will still provide an effective cleanse without stripping the skin. Key ingredients are ceramides and hyaluronic acid to restore the skin barrier and maintain moisture.
If you’re looking for the most affordable option, this is definitely it! I appreciate that you can get this cleanser in different sizes because I love bringing the mini size when I travel. With my sensitive skin, I never know how my skin is going to react to a new environment when I travel but I know this cleanser will properly cleanse my skin and help keep things calm.
Grab it here at Target or here at Ulta. You can get it in several different sizes and prices will vary depending on where you get it but it usually ranges from $15 to $18 for a full-size bottle.

Prequel Gleanser
Prequel has become one of my favorite brands since it launched and this cleanser is truly their standout product. It’s unlike any other cleanser formula you’ve ever tried! It lathers up into a light foam that feels nice and gentle on the skin and when you wash it off, your skin will truly feel hydrated without feeling like there’s any product on it. Formulated with 50% glycerin along with arginine, aloe, and oat extract to bring hydration to the skin while also calming and soothing it. Prequel’s Gleanser is also accepted by both the National Eczema Association and the National Rosacea Society so you know it’s great for sensitive skin.
A little bit goes a long way with this cleanser! I find that I only need about a half a pump but if I do use more then it takes a couple extra splashes to fully rinse it off.
Try it for yourself and buy it here on the Prequel website or here at Target. It retails for $18 for 13.5 fl ounces.

Dr. Idriss Soft Wash
Currently, this is my go-to cleanser! It feels so great on the skin and it’s a texture unlike any other cleanser I’ve tried. It has a gel consistency but it feels very creamy on the skin. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was going to properly clean my skin because it doesn’t lather up at all and it feels very light on the skin but it’s formulated with ingredients that can still cleanse the skin and break down sunscreen or even makeup. One of the cleansing agents is poloxamer, which is used in ophthalmic products like eye drops and contact solutions so it won’t be irritating to the eyes, especially if using it to break down eye shadow or mascara. With all that being said, it is the priciest cleanser on the list but I feel it’s worth it!
Pick it up here on the Dr. Idriss website or here at Sephora. It retails for $30 for 5.2 fl ounces.

La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Wash
La Roche-Posay has a lot of similar products to CeraVe but I do find that their formulas tend to feel a bit more elevated. This cleanser is quite similar to the CeraVe hydrating cleanser but it’s a bit creamier and may leave your skin feeling a bit more hydrated afterwards. It’s formulated with La Roche-Posay’s signature prebiotic thermal spring water to help soothe the skin. Along with this, it contains ceramides and niacinamide to help support the skin barrier.
Buy it here at Target or here at Ulta. Price will vary depending on where you get but it usually costs between $15 to $20.

Naturium Cleansing Gelee
If you have sensitive but also oily skin, you definitely need to try this cleanser! It contains 3% niacinamide to help keep the skin balanced and its lightweight, gel-like consistency nicely lathers on the skin to help break down makeup and impurities without leaving the skin feeling stripped. This cleanser is fragrance-free with gentle ingredients that are safe for sensitive skin.
Snag it here on Naturium’s website or here at Target. It retails for $18 for 7.1 fl ounces.
